Life and Death and Writing

It’s been a while since you’ve heard anything from my end. I would apologise for my absence had it not been for the fact that both personally and creatively, it’s been one helluva year.

After my hubby passed, it took months before I could get beyond looking sideways at my computer to open the damned thing,   But  Flammark  (the spooky village setting for my supernatural thriller series) just would not stop calling me and eventually … eeeeventuuuuallly … it made me confront the twenty chapters I already had in the bag before my world kinda stood still.

Confronting didn’t, however, mean writing anything new.  I found I could only read and re-read said chapters my heart sinking at the realisation that most of them would have to be re-written too. Couldn’t face it. Shut the laptop lid so many times. Truth be told, I was also rebuilding my life, rediscovering friends and finding new ones. As primary carer for my poorly hubby, I’d been tethered to the house for more years than I care to admit. Stepping out became a joy. A liberation. He would have wanted this for me. Or so people told me. The little-purple-people-eater in the base of my brain occasionally disagreed. Survivor guilt, I guess.

Either way, it increasingly looked like Flammark would just have to wait a bit longer. My readers would just have to wait too.

But I’m delighted to tell you, not for much longer. The fourth book finally got written, and in its fifth editing pass. I had hoped for a Halloween launch, but aint gonna happen. It’ll be ready for Christmas. I want it to be worth all that waiting.

But … what’s it going to be about? – I hear you ask.

Well, obviously I can’t give anything away. That would entail spoilers and I know that at least 3500 of my 3900 followers (conservatively speaking) have never read even the first book! Suffice it to say, all the story arcs of all the characters are finally resolved and we get to find out what our heroine – Emma – is really all about. And I think … hope … you’ll love it.

Weirdly, it features a brand new character, which is odd since this is the last in series. But Darius (Thorne), a Tarot savant, is to have his own spin-off series next year. But that’s for another post. Suffice to say it’s all a bit exciting, so if you haven’t got on board yet, I’d seriously urge you to.

So to tempt you some more I’ll leave you with a sneaky peak of the latest cover concept (there’ve been a few).  Once the series has bedded in, I will be updating all the covers but needed to create this final one to complete the set for all those who have bought the series so far in paperback.

A black cover for my darkest book yet. I have to confess some of it made me cry so God knows what I’ve unleashed, lol.

To explore the earlier books in the series do go to my home page and click the links to take you to Amazon. Or if you really can’t be bothered (and why on earth should you), click here for the first in series. I will be updating the website so you can order direct, just … not right away.

You know why…

Happy reading!
